Like everyone else it gets crazy around the Holidays. I was hoping to find the new Lionel Crayola Crayon Hopper at my dealer before Christmas. It was announced some time ago. You know how smells can evoke memories? I think that is part of the attraction as well as the great graphics. I was really looking forward to this car.
Sure enough it comes on the 26th. I head to Grandpas Trains, put it in the car and race off to my next appt / task.
There appears to be a large amount of cardboard that gets generated around the Holidays. One of my duties as master of the house in my mind is to go to the "transfer station" and throw out the trash and recycling.
You know that feeling something is wrong? Yup - brand spanking new in the shipping box Crayola Hopper was grabbed with the rest of the cardboard in my back seat and was tossed into the recycling dumpster. I didn't realize it till the next morning when I thought " let's go check out the new Car".
It's not the $, it was the dashing of having this car and the embarrassment of admitting to my wife the "real men of genius" move I just pulled.
MJ looked at me and just shook her head. We had a good laugh. My plan now was to call Grandpas the next day and order another. Next day - Grandpa has no more.
I'm busy and don't have time to search. Two days later my wife smiles at me and says "guess what's coming in two days"? Yes indeed - she reached out to our friend Steve Serenska who suggested another dealer and sure enough - Paul has his Crayola Hopper.
Don't you just love a happy ending. My wife - she's the greatest.
