Although there are always some forum members "bashing" the Red Caboose Motel, I have stayed there many, many times...but always with my kids...and later with my grandkids. In fact, it became a annual "Father's Day gift" tradition for 9 years. Keep in mind that it is 45 minutes from York, so I suggest it be used either coming to or from York. The Strasburg RR runs right past the front door. Unless your wife is into trains, I would advise a more "upscale" place for the 2 of you to stay, because a caboose is pretty small.

They quote me Something like 140.00 and I said I can fine something less than that. They said asked me if I had AARP, MILITARY, ETC. I said I have Military and AAA.  she said that Military discount is better then AAA. But I am only staying for Wednesday and Thursday night.  No weekend. Thats probably why.

Planning our wedding, my fiance suggested we stay at The Red Caboose during our honeymoon (yep, she's a keeper!). Last year we requested that same caboose for our 30th anniversary. The cabooses had been repainted and renumbered, but the General Manager tracked down our caboose and we had a pleasant stay there.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner in the diner are delicious. Homemade shoofly pie is a local delicacy

We highly recommend homemade ice cream in The Strasburg Creamery and Deli at the town square in Strasburg and the bakery next door.
