OK, this is marketed as an O item. Mut the New RM light towers are better built than the Marx ones, have black and yellow painting, and have exra weight over the Marx ones.
One might one to look at these. Marx trains were at/close to S in the scale, 8 wheel/delux lines, so these might fit into a S scale layout.

The ex-Marx/K-Line/RMT towers are certainly useable for an American Flyer inspired layout, depending on one's own desires. I've seen photo's of them used to good effect on Flyer layouts. The detail is a little clunky for a scale layout, though.
Fortunately, water and light towers come in all shapes and sizes, so there is almost no "wrong" size.
