It no longer will accept a press of the thumb wheel. The last time I pressed it I heard a faint click and then nothing. Is this a fixable item or do I need a new remote. . If so does someone on this form fix them. Thanks Dave.

Fixable..yes..use the search feature "dcs thumbwheel"
Did the search but did not say how to fix it. With one good eye anymore I have lost depth of field so would appreciate some who can fix it for me. Please answer this plea for help and of couse would be willing to pay for repair.
Hi Willy Gee & Dave
I had the thumbwheel replaced about a year ago on the DCS Handheld Controller. I took it to my local hobby shop and he got me the return authorization number from MTH. They had me mail it to their service center in St. Joseph, Michigan. About 125 miles from my train room.
This could be a do it yourself project but I have found the best tool in my train room tool box is my check book. The price was very reasonable and it was back in ten days.

It is a simple soldering job---3 wires. Part is fairly cheap. Hardest part is getting the remote opened.
Couldn't agree more with the last thread. Contact MTHtrains for part #. The repair requires some patience and gentle handling but not at all that difficult, even for a novice.
This is the OGR Thread, that deals with the issues of how to do it yourself.

After you read this, you will be ready to get your return authorization number from MTH.
Good Luck: Gary
