Replacement Diesel Mechs

P& D used to also have complete mechs for GP9s and F u nits including frames.

Their drive components are based on the Weaver designs, P&D has had new parts made for most if not all components.   It is a single horizontal motor with a sprocket/chain reduction tower.     These drives when properly adjusted are very quiet and smooth and very sturdy       

NOTE  P&D does mail orders and has a website.     If you want to talk about the mech you need call the phone number and ask for Pat (the P in P&D).

Don't forget MMW; they have apparently shipped mechanisms.

The brass truck sideframes are usually something like $140 a pair by themselves, so there is a bit of a discount if you buy the kit with trucks.  It's important to remember that there are distinct bolsters (different heights) for the F unit Blombergs and the gp* Blombergs.  I presume this has to do with the way the trucks connect to the frame.

Really, the "gp9" drive kit  could be used for any gp, with appropriate modifications as required to drive shaft lengths and bolster/mounting arrangements.

Frames are not included in either case, so those would need to be sourced elsewhere.

there are 38 items including the repower kits listed on O Scale 2 Rail Drive Components, P&D.    It looks like anything needed for that mech is available as a kit or as individual parts.     There may be some missing and calling may provided some more information on parts not listed.
