Description from the Lionel website:

-Built by the General American Car Company in the early 1900s, some milk cars saw service through the late 1950s. These cars contained twin glass-lined tanks to keep milk around a cool 38 degrees Fahrenheit during transport. Not only relegated to freight consists, milk cars frequently ran in passenger trains. Milk cars rode on passenger car trucks and were often painted Pullman green to match the color of the most common passenger cars of the day. The new scale-sized Lionel General American Milk Cars feature removable roofs and accurate details throughout.
