Mr. Cross is an elderly gentleman who handles his business the best way for HIMSELF. He uses what are now considered 'old fashioned' methods such as mail, telephone and personal contact. Oh yes, occasional magazine ads and attendance at some train meets too. Actually, that was how most model railroad business was done before the internet age. Many of us now super-annuated modelers well know how to to work with it.
Consider that doing business this way could be what enables Mr. Cross to keep up with the demand he has and maintain high quality in his product. Production could
otherwise grow beyond his capabilty to fulfill if advertised on the internet and its vastly added complexities of web sites, shopping carts, payment options, e-mail, fax numbers, etc.
For a person in his 8th decade of life, future expansion and being "modern and up to date" is likely not a big part of the picture. However maintaining productivity at a level he can enjoy handling and in providing fine quality is.
And when Mr. Cross has his seat check lifted by The Great Conductor (something we all face), what becomes then of his desired track products?
