BURLINGTON ZEPHYR

MATCHING CARS (Using PEEP chasis)

I'm a big fan of the RMT BEEFs and recently wondered what they would look like in some other colors. So, I took a stab using MS Paint and some profile drawings I found online.  What other flagship colors would you like to see Walter put on these little puppies? Throw some names out and I'll see what I can do.

I've ordered a spare Beef A unit and will try to make/bash it into something I spoke about on another thread: a model of "Chuggington."  If you have 3 and 5 year olds around you know all about him - the diesel equivalent of Thomas, my grandduaghter informed me, and "much more powerful."  Ought to be an easy project - Chugginton as a very short F3 type loco . . . with a big smile!!!

Ed,

  Ahh, I see it now.

Lee,

I think the BEEFs would be a good platform for making a Chuggington loco. Of course, I can't read the words 'Chuggington' without singing that dreaded song, argh!  I find the look of the Chuggington locos resemble the British "F" looking trains. Not sure what type they actually are though. Please post some picts when you're done.

Christopher

Southwest, Thanks. I think it would be a neat addition to their line as well. I disagree that it has to be limited to two lines. Of course proto-wise there were only two lines that used this shape. Three if you include NH's Comet. But I think this line could be done in any RR name. The best part of RMT is that their many lines play to whimsy and the best parts of why we play with trains. I think it would be cool to see the ZPHYR in a SF war bonnet or with NYC whiskers along the stainless steel. It'd be a risk but imagine if it came as a two piece set with the engine and attached parlor car. It'd be about 18 inches long making it small and inexpensive enough for even the most die hard 3r person to want one for a fun toy piece. Just a thought.

I like the Zephyr. Walter should see the sketch, it might be a winner. The only problem is, it's a two-railroad item (you could also do it as the Flying Yankee) and that makes it harder to generate enough sales to amortize the tooling costs. Sure is cool looking, though.

Well with that shovel nose you could also do the New Haven Comet that had two cabs to run push-pull, the Rebel, and the SAL and later SCL shovel nose diesel.

On my projects to be done stack is the cab castings of a Lionel M-1000 turret cab that I was going to "Beepify".
