This is a 1940s Chicago & North Western promotional film which shows at least six different types of yards and provides lots of research material for modeling 1940s era lines.  There is the hump yard at Proviso Yard, the LCL sheds at Proviso, the freight terminal (similar to Proviso LCL) under the Merchandise Mart near downtown Chicago, side of the road food products plant sidings in the North Pier terminal area, the Wood Street Terminal home of the potato market with broad concrete roads between double tracks allowing potato buyers to inspect product right in the car,  South Water Market a terminal specializing only in perishables and the Union Stock Yard.

There is a snow ice truck supplying a heavy blanket of snow ice  to carloads of perishable fruits and vegetables,  loading and unloading freight inside the Proviso LCL sheds and inside the cars themselves.

At the end there is a brief capsule of modern C&NW rolling stock.
