I was having fun and then suddenly a 072 switch Failed. The culprit was a broken drawbar. It broke where the moving rail is pinned to the drawbar. A nice break around the pin or rivet.
Has anyone tried to glue or epoxy these back together?
I got clumsy while drilling to install a Tortoise machine and broke one. I removed the turnout and replaced it with another one, then fabricated a new throw bar from a coffee stirrer. It's still working after almost 10 years.
I just started to get my layout going again so I guess I'll start seeing stuff like this.
The throw bar is broken at one of the pin points and is loose at the the other. I can see the deterioration around the underside of the bar around the pins.
It seems like an easy fix. I did remove the switch. I'll give Steve a call.
