I have been using the latest version of RR Track to help design my new layout and like it very much. However, I have one question/problem that I can't find an answer to. In response to my question about adding a second level (elevation) to the layout I was referred to the Terrain Mapping tutorial. I have found only limited reference to Terrain Mapping in my searches and no explanation of what I need to look for or do. Any explanations or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

On the main screen click on HELP menu. About the third item down, click on Getting Started. On the left menu boxes click on Elevation and Grades. Scroll down to Using Multiple Layers and read that section. I think this will help.

I've made second levels by placing the specific track on a different layer and adjusting the track height with the Grade menu. So if the bench level track is set at 0, the raised track could be set at whatever height you need. You can even set track levels below 0, so if you wanted a loop for a subway the track height could be -12.
Hope this helps,

I found the easiest way for me was to make each loop (or level), a different layer, and make them a different color. Then you can go back and add grades and track heights later.
Thanks for the help. The new level is starting to take shape.
I also recommend separate layers. I also put the grade track in a separate layer. Then, if I change the height of a level, I can select all in the grade layer and reset the grade quickly.
