I'm sure this is old news for 98% of you, but I just (re?) discovered that some O gauge engines don't like even straight sections of O27 track - in this case the straight section is the 6019 remote track. I had just finished cleaning/repairing a 1662 and 2203T combo and placed them on the track only to discover that something was shorting as it drove across the remote track. A quick peek under the engine revealed that the gears on the driver wheel were striking the sides of the oval section on the remote track. As I looked at several interweb pics of this track, I saw burn/arcing marks on almost every one of them.
I'm guessing I will have similar problems with the O27 switches. So is there a common solution, beside the obvious "Use O Gauge track!" I don't believe tape or paint would last as insulators, so … ???
Second and final question, when was O27 track introduced?
