I was trying to find engine sounds for some MTH steam engines...I recall they had sound files per product number, but couldn't find it using product # search. Anyone know of a link? I'd like to hear the sound file for the Premier Hudson with PS3.0. Thanks.

I've found sound samples on MTH's website to be hit or miss. Sometimes they're posted, sometimes not.
I'm not sure if your looking for an actual file or just want to hear it. Heres youtube video from the Nassau Lionel Operating Engineers of the recent PS3 hudson if it helps.
Thanks, Rick.
It does seem PS3.0 chuffing sounds are improved - not sure I enjoy that whistle though - it doesn't sound like any Hudson whistle I've heard before. I wonder if the B&A Premier Hudson with PS3.0 has the same whistle?
I also found video of the 2 Rail B&A hudson, same whistle (at 1:17). This video shows the color scheme better than the catalog.
I'm not crazy about that harmonica whistle either, but the blowout prices the MTH stuff goes for helps one get past it.
They're very still nice models, especially for the money.
That's not a NYC/Hudson whistle. One of MTH's failings getting the whistles right. Compare it to a Lionel Hudson with Legacy sounds, I've been told is correct.
That whistle does sound improved over my PS2 B&A Hudson but mostly the same.
Thanks Rick and Gary. MTH makes some real nice models - and that 2-rail model was very sharp - is it my eyes or does it look even better than the Vision Line Hudson - crisper details?
I know a guy who does MTH sound system swaps - it can be a mixed bag on what you get - but it can be the difference between having a fun engine to run and a shelf queen.
The VL Hudson is really lacking in the detail dept. ts more of a "retro" locomotive with modern electronics.
Lionel added a bunch of piping but it doesn't make up for the antiquated tooling of both engine and tender. It does wear the K Line J1e E drivers though
No builders plates, incorrect squared valve guides, and no rivet detail on the steam chest are just a few things that kept me from buying one.
An MTH Premier hudson is superior to the VL when it comes to detail.
My dream hudson would be Lionels 50th anniversary J3a with legacy. IMO its Lionels best detailed and possibly most accurate hudson. IMO it would have been the ideal VL.
I submitted a request to "Lionel Talk To Us" for several years in a row wanting a J3a with legacy. They answer with the ESE hudson.....so close, guess I should have specified unstreamlined.

Look up by product number then click on the Support tab. There is the MP3 file, if they have posted one. The PS 3.0 PT and J1 Hudsons don't have one posted that I saw. The Dreyfuss Hudson did.

Thanks, Ridgerunner. I didn't see an active link for the Hudson either - at least I was on the right page.
Besides sound files that are hit or miss - my other complaint with MTH is the drawbar - kind of a pain to connect and disconnect - and the stock drawbars are way too long - I have to order some shorter ones - but it'd be nice if they included the short ones with scale models.
Rick - I don't recall seeing the 50th anniversary J3a Hudson - was that a model based on the 700E or when did it come out?
Hudson's are so neat looking - the quintessential steam locomotive.
Its hard to believe Lionel hasn't made the F7 Hiawatha Hudson to date. It's a heavy-shrouded streamliner - but the colors are awesome. That's really a no-brainer and would sell very well.

It was offered in a set back in 2002. New tooling made in Korea. http://www.lionel.com/products...t-loco-5344-6-31705/
There's a brand new one now on eBay for $980 if you still need one.
