Santa fe fans - Your opinion please

Am considering a set of the new Warbonnet F3's with the stainless panels that look so good.  Which of the four major offerings recently including the upcoming Lionels would be your preference?

                     Atlas - Lionel - MTH - 3rd Rail/Sunset

I'm wanting a good 'scale' appearance including reasonably close coupling and the ability to '3 rail scale' them to a degree. I believe that Atlas & 3rd Rail both have the options of fixed pilots and kadee couplers which is a plus. Hopefully MTH and Lionel can be easily done as well.

Figure that Lionel will have the better sound but am concerned about 'high-water' trucks

Now that MTH has gotten away from the tethers, I would consider theirs now especially with sound in each powered unit.

I like this look with the red being more glossy than what the current Atlas finish is.

TTBOMK, Atlas did not make the AT&SF warbonnet F3’s with ss panels. However, they made some mighty fine F7’s.  As for close coupling, best ever.  Pretty decent ss side panels.  The red is not bright and glossy.

They are not perfect.  No model ever is, but they have less flaws than all their competitors .

IMHO they are the best for the $$$.

Hey Sam,

The 3rd rail diesels I bought have been somewhat problem plagued. Loose screens, odd running characteristics. If the Atlas has fixed pilots, that eliminates a lot of hassel. Lionel are excellent runners, but you have to lower them and fix the pilots.

Obviously I don't mind doing all that.
