Here's what I do. I place the track to be snipped over the gap and connect it to a track on either side of the gap. I then zoom in so I can accurately select the track to be snipped and then place the cursor over the straight line under the arrow on the other end. I then right-click to select the Snip tool and I get a perfect joint. It's tedious and takes a bit of practice, but it works for me.
