That sounds like a really nutsy policy, when so many trains, once upon a time, in the

good old days, were given as gifts and the recipient walking in there won't have the

the sales receipt, but can't get service even if it was bought there.  With some of the

characters I have read about on here, such as Akron, etc., it is no wonder so many

are without a local train shop.

 

on the other hand, sometimes ya gotta pay for a particular car that you absolutely

"gotta have".  I ran into that a few years ago. I refused to pay $50-$60 for rolling stock when many dealers are selling $20 or under. Well there was this Canada covered hopper that I absolutely had to have. Price tag $50. The guy gave it to me for $40,

so it wasn't so bad.
