Should Lionel do a Second Run of Vision Line Big Boys?

I'm sure they know.  But I for one am glad they made them as delivered.  I prefer the look of them that way, not as they currently sit.  It's all a matter of preference.

OK, so correctness in a $2400 model doesn't count for anything?

I think a fantasy 49ers big boy is the way to go.

Hi Hotwater...  i totally get your point...  they kinda IMPLY that as SURVIVORS they maybe should be portrayed in their final state on display with coolers removed...

HOWEVER they did say they were to be as delivered details, and so we can pull our wartime freights with them.

I never equated survivor with what final appearance SHOULD be at the time, but see your point now...

Lionel does tell us when they model the later excursion or modern appearance of an engine like they just did with #3985 Challenger...  it will be as it appears today.

At least they tell us if they intend to model something in as delivered, or model the changed in time...

So all i can say is it gives us another EXCUSE to get vision engines again, maybe this time in modern display configuration...

 I think the reason for as delivered before was because they knew 4014 would be redone when its resto is done...  so that is probably why they did as delivered the first two runs of this tooling...

They could reuse the Vision Line Challenger tender for the oil fired Big Boys.

I support the idea of another production run of Vision Line Big Boys. Lionel should make all eight survivors, some other road numbers for those who want multiple Big Boys other than the preserved ones, and the original Big Boy 4000 with the lettering on the boiler front. My pick would be the 4014 with the Big Boy lettering chalked on the boiler front. Given how Lionel recently did a second run of Vision Line Challengers we might get our wish, who knows anything is possible. 

Still up for buying 2 VLs; no depleting coal load in the tender; never use it.

I have ordered my new 4014 from Lionel with Big Boy written on the boiler, and am looking forward to its arrival.

I'd agree to another run as long as they update the engine with the new bells and whistle's like the Niagara has been made 2 years ago! like the coupler that senses pulling of the cars load and increase chuff as the load to the engine increases and decreases as it slow accordingly !may get rid of the coal load feature that was never that great! maybe also add the  steam pop off valve like the Niagara had installed also really nice beautiful Feature.

If Lionel did another VL big boy I would be in for an original chalked #4000 let’s say as a set pulling some military cars. With some kind of VL military rolling stock. And no depleting coal load! I would rather have real coal & the force coupler first introduced on the niagara.

They need to either remove the coal load feature or make it beefier.  Another run with some more features could be cool though.

I have my 4014 and love it.  I see the differences between the “as delivered” and “in service” locomotives which really doesn’t make any difference to me.  I’m okay with another run but I don’t see myself buying one.  The only person upset with another release might be the guy on eBay trying to sell one for $4,295, plus shipping..

Yes I would buy a couple of these units. Still have a 3rd rail unit as well as an early legacy unit in the box. My vision line is in my roundhouse for show purposes to pull out on turntable and show all the features. Need a couple more to put on side tracks around roundhouse. I love trains. Can't have to many. They make me happy..

Lol at that price it’s probably untested with no warranty
