Wow, that takes me back. I was driving a new 67 GTO when I met my wife in college. We would stop in a station like this and I would put in $2.00 of ethyl and we would continue our date.

My wife just reminded me it was more often a dollar of gas and often it was her dollar.
Great stuff - particularly like the dramatic interior shot. That is a model, correct?
Doesn't get any better Erik!
Can't decide which I marvel at most, Erik; your modeling skills or your photography, lighting, and design skills--both are superb.
Amazing craftsmanship.
When did Sinclair start using the dinosaur logo?
Must be a brand new station - waaaaay too clean to be one that has been open for more than about 5 min.

LOL
NO JOKE
Erik looks great another fantastic model! i worked at Sinclair station in Chicago and the owner made us keep it almost as clean as your model. thanks for sharing this brings back old memories. all that is missing is my dusk blue 69 Nickey Camaro sitting under the Sinclair sign.I still have the Sinclair signs off the pumps when we turned into an Arco station.
Wow. Just wow. The lighting really helps the photo.
When did Sinclair start using the dinosaur logo?
I recall the dinosaur logo at the 1964 NY World's Fair, so perhaps around that time.
Very nice work Erik!
1932 is when Sinclair started using the dino as their logo.
Great Job, Thanks for the Memories.
I saw a lot of that style filing stations in the 50's and early 60's. Classic look and a well done model that brings back great memories. Don't let that giant step on it.

Great modeling. I remember when that exact station, except the bays were on the left, and office on right, was being built in our town. The closed gas station sits across the street from my sisters house now, used car lot. Spent many hours there, the owner became a great long time friend. All I can say is WOW!, and thanks for memories of a period long ago.
Forgot to add, outside, by door to office were 2 penny machines, one peanuts, the other gumballs.
Nice work Erik!
I like the atmosphere
When I was a kid living in Detroit in the '60s, there was a Sinclair station like this one at the corner of my street--"Johnny Davis Service". Whenever I got a flat tire on my bike I'd walk it down there and ol' Johnny would repair it--free!

Erik. Great looking stuff. Thanks for posting these.
Fantastic work Erik. Thanks for sharing. Nice photography too.
69 Nickey Camaro: Admittedly, I am not a Chevy guy but I've heard of a RS Camaro or a SS Camaro or even a RS/SS Camaro but what is a Nickey Camaro?

Thanks for sharing. Your interior detail was a nice touch!
Splendid! I had a great uncle who owned a Sinclair station and I wanted to model it, but had no basis for starting. This is the exact station - thank you!
The sky is beautiful and the scaffolding to it reminds me of the Sistine Chapel. Nice work all around.
Erik not to hijack the thread but to answer the question.
HUDSON J1E a Nickey Camaro was like a Yenko or Baldwin Motion where the dealer installed a 427 engine. Nickey Chevrolet was a dealer in Chicago that built extreme muscle cars per customer request. Nickey would take a SS350 Camaro and install a 427 usually 425 HP. My car was a 427 L88 12.5 to1 compression with a Muncie M22 4 speed and a 5:13 12 bolt service package rear end. i had Larry Buetleman the engine builder for the Chi Town Hustler funny car build the aluminum heads. it conservatively got 3.5MPG with the 1050cfm Holley 3 barrel carb. still have the car with 31000 miles mostly in 1/4 increments. hope that answers your question.
That gas pump detail is fantastic. I sure remember seeing those across America.
I thought I remember seeing the dino on the sign when I would be riding in the back of my dad's 57 chev as a kid. The building looks as close as I can remember. I don't remember the pumps at all. Maybe there was a dino on top of the roof too?
But...great work!
Hey Michelangelo, the Sistine Chapel ceiling looking real good
That was me back in 1999! Man I got older
Thank you fellas I really appreciate the kind words and wonderful compliments. I try very hard to do the best I can.
Great work. Was that a scratch build or a bash from a Walther's kit?
yeah Erik thrown together just like your photos are taken with a 50's Kodak brownie camera. take credit where credit is due!!
I like the atmosphere
Thanks so much.. It's fun playing with light. Really changes things.

Yes, you're right. Light can change an ambiance.
I'm a model railroader but I'm photographer enthusiast too.

Erik, earlier in this thread I talked about my recollection of the Sinclair station I grew up near. But what I failed to mention was, your fine model rekindled that memory. Sinclair stations, real or excellently modelled such as your's, hold a special place in my heart. Well done and thanks.
Doug
Your comment really warms my heart. I don't have those memories from an amazing time in our history. My profound gratitude to your comments.
