A local HO club has been hosting a train show here for the past 25 years and it shows. The NC Ag Center is a huge building across from the Asheville Regional Airport and part of the STate Fairgrounds. An excellent facility for a train show. The host club sold out over 200 tables and had 6 opertating layouts from Z to Live Steam G gauge running a Clinchfield Challenger, UP 844 Grey, a D&RG K27 and various assorted narrow gauge steam.
Amid all this, our O gauge layout continues to be the real crowd pleaser with the kids. Some of them would stand for an hour without leaving while our three LionTec steamers went around. We had one lone diesel in a nice Central of Georgia Atlas switcher. Good news is that it appears that three old guys who have been TMCC holdouts have taken the plunge with Liontech and enjoying it!
If any of you are nearby, do come out and see us. This is a pretty good show with a decent amount of 3 rail O. A fella who works for Trainz was there with some exceptional (and pricy) original postwar Lionel - about 6 tables full. Probably a dozen to 20 other O gauge vendors as well. I scored a box of 13 new Atlas 40" flex as well as 8 10" straights for a hundred bucks - not bad...
Show is on Saturday 9a - 5p off I-26 below I -40 in Asheville NC
