We spent a week on Cape Cod, and ran into a store in the town of Orleans, Snows Home & Garden.

I always give credit to independent retailers that continue to survive and prosper, and this large store held a pleasant surprise, an extensive model train department complete with a large 0 gauge operating layout. They stock current Lionel and have a large inventory of later day K-Line and K-Line by Lionel merchandise.  If I was left to my own devices, I could have had the credit card smokin'.

I did take some pictures, but the following day my i-phone fried itself after being hit by high tide.

If you are ever up that way check them out.

Hope you guys also got to the Nausett Model Railroad Club open house. It is in Orleans on Wednesday nights during July and August and it is free. Most people make a small donation. They have N,O,S, and HO layouts. Overall, a visit there and an ice cream makes for a wonderful and inexpensive night out with the kids on the Cape. Dinner at Liam's at thr Orleans Nauset Beach National Seashore makes it just about perfect. Just some train ideas for your next visit to the Cape.

Long ago my wife and I rented a cottage that was only 2-3 blocks away from Snows. Back then, they did not have trains in the store. But they did have some interesting, old Hardware Store stuff to look at. I purchased an old, disused Dremel bit cabinet from them. Very nice folks.

We rented that cottage several times, I always looked forward to visiting the store.
