It has been a few years, but a saw a mom with a kid and he was having a tantrum. It ending in a protest seat on a random lawn. "Arms crossed and hissing" about the walk ending, still didn't hide the Thomas shirt. I had a slide show of some goodies on an i-pod and I offered kt for viewing and suggested after, that he had better go home and check on his trains. He agreed got up and headed home..."come on mom"..and mom was thrilled to not have to yell, or try to carry him.

Very cool you helped this mother out.I bet she was very about the helping hand.

Great stories!

Made me smile for a different reason...

After working behind the Trains counter at our LHS for more than 15 years  (after retirement.), I've come to realize that our department is essentially the ONLY one in the store that results in kids throwing a tantrum.....as they're being dragged away from the Thomas play table, the operating layouts, and all the 'choo-choo' temptations at their eye level.  Games, models, R/C this-and-that, science experiments, rockets, puzzles, tools, just don't cut it like a healthy dose of  T-R-A-I-N-S.

Yep, the tantrum starts AFTER the show!.....to the dismay of the parents and grandparents.

Nap time.

Tough job.....working in a candy store.

Ha!.....Do you think fovlks at Chuck E Cheese or the comics book store have it any easier

At least in retail there is fear of "break it you've bought it and parents " do their job" more often

Some folks at the reseraunts think the ads read "Where a kid can be an obnoxious terror" ...Why do you think Chuckie wears hocky shin gaurds to walk among the kids ....

....that said; lots of fun too

What works best imo, is talk of plans for improving the next visit.
