Don't know who took this great pic, but Scale Rail sent it to me.  It's the 4448 in freight service near San Jose, CA, circa 1950's.  She is stripped of her skirts and Daylight paint.  Question for Hot Water:  Was the 4448 a GS-4?  I love old B&W photos of railroads.  Tnx, Matt

Great shot and thanks. My latest model from Sunset/3rd Rail looks just like that, except that my "new black GS-4" is road number 4445. In fact, if one looks closely at photos taken in the early to mid 1950s, of the black GS-4 locomotives, you can see that on a few, the shop forces just painted the silver paint right over the fancy stainless steel bands on the pilot.
