I used the bulk of an old Athearn kit and added my own sides. The prototype is next to the freeway in Madera, Ca. I plan to also model a copy with open doors and interior detailing, parked at an icing station.

Hey, Grass Valley!
Very nice looking car. I think you will find it is not really a SP PFE car. In the early days there was a UP logo on one side of the car at the A end and the SP logo on the other side of the car at the B end. Later on PFE started putting the SP and UP logos on both sides of the car.

I noticed on the prototype the remains of the SP logo on the north side of the car, but couldn't really see any logo on the south side. Thanks for the info!

I believe Mr. Johnston is correct. There is a complete book available on the Pacific Fruit Express Company (which was jointly owned by SP and UP). I must admit I am not aware of ANY PFE reefers with just one "SP" or "UP" logo on the car.

Thanks again, guys for the helpful information.
One thing I really enjoy about this hobby is the historical part of it. I will try and find that book, and it will be easy for me to remove the skin off one side of the car and replace it with UP.
Thanks again!
