Sparking Legacy GP35 on MTH Scaletrax switch

With help from Dave Hikel I have successfully modified four MTH switches on my switching layout. Most of my locos perform flawlessly, however my new Lionel Legacy GP35 has an issue with one and only one switch. As it goes through the switch a large spark comes from the front left truck. It doesn't short the system, but I'm concerned I'm doing harm to the Loco and track. I also took a photo of the switch point, which is being scorched. Any guidance is greatly appreciated. Also big shout out to Dave Hikel, I thank you for your patience and wisdom!

Not sure, but I think the pick up rollers are touching the middle and outside rails at the spark area. Watch it close, just need some tweaking. That's where I would start. thats a nice engine...Thanks.

I ended up taking a Dremel on slow speed and "trimming" the point rail. Once I did this the issue went away. However, the unit still has an issue with another switch in terms of losing power, yet the MTH units have zero issue. Troubleshooting to continue. Thanks Larry for the suggestion.

I found the pickup roller to be slightly askew on my GP 35, causing shorting by getting off the center rail on Atlas curved turnouts, derailing the truck.

I straightened the pickup roller and tightened the screw and it has worked fine since.

Many thanks. I did notice the pickup rollers where loose...so I have tightened the screws. I went ahead and used a Dremel to smooth out the point...no more sparking. Still investigating.
