Hi Forum members,

I have some cars with sprung trucks from the 1982-era (#6700 Ice Car, #6-6205 CP Long Gondola and #6-7518 Carson City Mint Car) with collapsed springs on one or more trucks.

Does anyone know of a supplier for replacement springs? I contacted Lionel Customer Service and they said they are not available from them. I was wondering if any reproduction versions are available.

Thanks,

Roger

Not familar with Lionel's trucks from that era. Are they cosmetic or actually functioning sprung trucks ?  I have numerous springs from 2 rail scale couplers. They are used to keep the coupler centered in the box. They are very close to the size on a truck. The Atlas is fairly stiff and the Kadee is very soft. They both would need some black paint. If you can't come up with anything. Hit my email and I'll throw some in an envelope. I'll check my junk box and maybe I have some old trucks that have something that will work.

To TRW,

Thanks again for the part number. I tried to find the part number of the truck and hence the springs and drew a blank. I have the Greenberg repair manual but it only covers PW to 1969. I haven't been able to find a repair manual with exploded parts diagrams and part numbers for 1970-1995 (which covers the extent of my small collection).

How did you come up with the part numbers for the springs? I did a search for the part number you gave me and found exactly what I needed at http://stores.smittystoytrainp...-058-pack-of-1-each/.

Thanks again!

Roger
