Good morning, and welcome to STEAMday Sunday, the place to post photos, videos and comments about steam locomotives of all kinds.

At the outset, I wish to thank Melgar for doing such a fine job last week, substituting for me as your STEAMday Sunday starter.

This morning, I will begin this 9/22/2024 edition of this thread with an MTH Railking Commodore Vanderbilt Hudson that has been upgraded to PS 3:

Now, it’s your turn to share your favorite steamers.  When you do, please post only those photos and videos you have take, those in which you have received the written permission of the owner to post, and fully comply with the Forum Terms of Service.

Hello StDaySun people!  The nod today goes to Arnold for motivating me to feature a New York Central locomotive I haven’t posted recently.

It’s my Lionel 4-8-2 Mohawk.  To me, only the mighty Hudson says “NYC” more than a Mohawk.  I bought it from a friend “for a song”  because he prefers more modern engines.

I believe this engine dates to about 1990 and was equipped with an early Lionel sound system, “the mighty sound of steam”.  It has a piston smoke unit with one chuff per revolution and a venerable “Pullmor” motor.  It runs well (despite a fall to the floor with little damage!), smokes well after a little TLC to the smoke unit and has a rather haunting whistle.  I’ll post a video with whistle sound at a later date when I’m home.

John
