On 7/2/17 I was able to briefly visit this shortline, located in Stewartstown,York County,PA.
It is only 7.4 miles long, and connects with the x-PRR line run by Steam Into History in New Freedom,PA.
After much legal and financial troubles from about 2003-2013, what remains is enough serviceable trackage for about a 1.5 mile ride running west from the station in Stewartstown.
Plymouth 35 tonner #9, a 1943 model, does all the hauling, there is a recently restored coach, a couple of cabooses, and a collection of rail speeders also available.
There was a very friendly gaggle of volunteers, and I was able to make a modest contribution towards their efforts.0151

Where is all this in relation to Muddy Creek Forks and some remaining track of the Ma & Pa?....west across the Interstate?

The Ma and Pa runs east of Interstate 83 with about 8 miles of track in use. The Stewartstown runs east-west and crosses I- 83 but, from reading what Borden Tunnel posted, that line is not totally in use at this time. Only the area from the Stewartstown station is in service which is east of I-83.

if you are visiting Muddy Creek Forks, you can get to Stewartstown in about one hour over country roads.  Find your way to Fawn Grove PA (maybe 20 minutes)and pick up route 896 which will bring you right into Stewartstown.  From there you have about another 30 minute ride to New Freedom PA and the Steam Into History Operation.  All worth doing if you like railroading.  Stewartstown is really unique. They operate on the lightest rail on a standard gauge railroad I have ever seen in operation.

I don't do navigating by using a dash-mounted dingbat, but I have consulted my trusty Delorme atlas and a little google mapping. It appears getting from Muddy Creek Forks to Stewartstown is most easily done by heading west from MCF on SR 2044, then SR 2042 and SR 2038 to PA24 then south into Stewartstown. Looks to be about 12-15 miles, figure 20-25 minutes.
To get to New Freedom go west on PA 851 to Shrewsbury, then take TRK851that bypasses Shrewsbury rather than the regular 851. TRK851 is shorter and will put you right in front of Steam into History. This is about 8 miles and should take about 15-20 minutes, beware of 2 long lights at the I-83 interchange. Paved roads also follow most of Stewartstown's roundabout route, only speeders can run on the westernmost 6 miles of SRR, and some of this track work will be a challenge to repair.
