I put this here because it cuts across a lot of the forum areas. Outside of the outside cost of lumber (that seems to be coming down last I heard, course at the retail end will take a LONG time before stores reflect it in their prices, who will turn down lowered cost of supply as a way to make more money?) I am seeing the effects of supply chain disruption, that might hit a lot of things. In my case it was something relatively minor, I ordered some train stuff dz-1008 relays (which I likely won't need for a long time, just wanted to have them on hand) and got a message from Steve at Ross Switches that they were on back order, that z stuff didn't have them, didn't know when they would even be available. I nosed around a bit out of curiousity, looking through Walthers and other places and I saw a lot of stuff, generally electronic in nature, with the same kind of status.
Obviously this is something that is affecting a lot of things, just ask the automobile industry, and not surprising. On the other hand it likely means we will see this with new engines and such as well, we could see even more delays than we typically see.
No other agenda behind this, just that if you anticipate needing things, especially electronic ones, you may want to order early if they have it in stock, and if they don't, might be wise to order it to get it as soon as available.
