Hi all, in July I will be taking Amtrak on what I think is the Lakeshore Limited. I am going from South Station, Boston to Rochester, NY. Does anyone know what make and model motive power they use and what about the rest of the consist? Thanks

Be aware that there is no checked baggage service from Boston and there is only snack bar food service for coach passengers. Equipment is the usual Amtrak stuff.
This should be a very enjoyable ride.
Unfortunately, the former dining car got pulled a few months ago. [BYOB!]
Check if "business class" still exists.... it was much more comfortable, and not that much more expensive.
If it is still available, it is well worth the upcharge. Go for it !!!!
Enjoy !!
I seem to think it was a Genesis. I just remember what I thought was an interesting whistle sound.
Trains 48 and 49 generally has two Genesis locomotives elephant style. I sometimes see the eastbound around 11:00AM-2:00PM go by my house. The westbound is much later in the evening...after 6pm? If you can stop and spend some time in Syracuse check out our store! Gardner the Train Doctor is located about half way between Syracuse and Rochester. We are about the only two model train stores that specialize in O gauge trains left in the Central (upstate) New York State area.
