I met Derek at York and bought a signed copy of the book from him; great guy, great book. A must-have for any train-room library.

Eric,
Thanks for the kind words. I have as much respect for the work you do as you do mine.
As of 11 PM on November 1st, 99% of our preorders are packed, labeled and ready to mail. The exception is a handful of international orders and multibook orders which will be processed in the next few days. The packed books were dropped at the local post office this morning and are on their way.
We look forward to everyone receiving their book. Please allow up to 14 days for media mail. Priority orders should be no more than 4.
How many did you ship?
Looking forward to mine.

We shipped over 250 books this week. That combined with our York sales has put us nearly 2/3rd of the way to sold out on the first run. That's without any magazine coverage, emails, etc. That speaks to the power of our community here on the OGR forum.
At this point there are no immediate plans for a second run, so if you have an interest please visit our website and order a copy.
Got mine today, time stopped for an hour or so. I have wonderful memories of the place. I remember my first visit, I needed an e-unit drum for a 2055 which I had purchased in a basement junk store on Canal Street. I've been buying, running, and fixing trains ever since! Madison Hardware was unique... entering was as if you were stepping back in time. Great book! Great memories! Thank you!
Mine arrived today as well. Looks very nice. Reading begins later this evening.
My signed copy arrived today also. I was only able to read a few parts but seems to be well written. Nicely done with plenty of family pictures of the brothers. A-Plus
Hi Derek: my book came today, via Special Delivery in a Madison Hardware Co., Special Shipment Truck. All eighteen wheels. “Wow’……….. You ship first class.
Excellent graphics and printing quality. Looks like it was printed on an offset press, not digital. Offset printing always will out do a digital press.
I will be doing most up my reading on a State of Michigan Holiday, November 15th.
Congrats on an excellent publication. Thanks - Gary
Derek: my copy came today.. 3 of 50. What a great book !! Thanks for all your hard work to get this published.. Bob V.
I'm 9 of 50 for the dual signature edition. Mine came today as well. Beautiful job. I cheated and browsed some of the photos. Can't wait to read as it looks great. BigRail
Thanks for the answer as for as the number shipped.I got mine yesterday, and it looks first rate. Can hardly wait to read it as opposed to just thumbing through the quality pictures.Sadly, printed in China, but that's the way of the world. Actually, when I'm in Europe most products are made in Europe. It wouldn't have stopped me from buying it if I had known ahead of time. Made in China does give me pause in buying trains (which is perfectly fine with the wife). To end on a positive note: Great book!AlanNotch 6 posted:ajzend posted:How many did you ship?

Got mine the other day in the mail. I'm only up to chapter 4 so far but the story and pictures are amazing. The book is very well done and if you don't have it Get it! IMO this is going to be a classic no Lionel collector should be without in their library!
Congratulations Derek - a project well done!
As we've been scaling back on 'things' due to limited space - I'll order the digital version when available and looking forward to it!

Hi Sam,
You brought up a question that I've been toying with. If we go digital we will more than likely format it for the Ipad. Do you personally have a preference in how a digital version would be formatted? Anyone else with interest in a digital version out there?
Thanks,
Derek
I finished reading the book this past weekend. As a kid, I remember riding in the car past Madison Hardware, seeing that neon sign and wanting more than anything to go inside. My Dad visited Madison Hardware frequently back in the 60s and 70s and I remember him talking about the 2 curmudgeons, Lou and Carl, who ran it. After reading this book, I felt like I had been in the store. Great job, Derek.
John
p.s. when are you going to do another run of shirts?
