The Muffin's to Move Again!

For our Christmas present, we acquired an additional building in downtown Atlanta, Indiana. This one - a 6000 square foot building with two store fronts at 175 and 177 West Main Street will house our retail and eCommerce operations for O Gauge; HO trains; and our wooden toy trains - plus some other surprises.

We are planning at least one and possibly two additional layouts for the first floor of this building. Discussions are also underway to renovate the second floor and offer it to a model train club as their home for a large permanent layout and workshops.  I would also like to find an HO club that would like some space.

By moving our retail business out of our current location in Atlanta at 165 E Main Street - just a block and a half east - we will be able to devote the whole first floor at 165 to our new layout. This will expand it to cover 54' by 40' - a full 40% larger layout than the layout we had in Carmel, Indiana.

Korber Models will remain in the second floor of 165 E Main Street along with an area we are setting up for hosting model railroading workshops. We have begun creating Korber kits and fulfilling your orders from this facility on the second floor.

At this point, we expect to move the retail inventory in January, and have at least some portion of the new layout complete and in operation for the MTH National Wi-Fi Day Open House planed for Saturday, March 11, 2017.  Mark your calendars!

Once we get 175/177 up and running, we are planning a coffee shop; an antique store for the Mrs to enjoy - including railroad antiques; and a workshop for a local Kiwanis group that makes wood toys, including trains, for hospitalized children.

I hope as your travels bring you through Indiana you will come visit. Atlanta, Indiana is located north-east of Indianapolis on the Nickel Plate Road mainline just south of Tipton, Indiana. In the day there were two grain elevators here and an attractive train station. Maybe there will be a station again.

We finally completely moved out of our previous location in Carmel today - this last bit took two large trucks and a trailer to remove the bench work and workshop area from our old facility.

Mr. Muffin

I suppose there's a limit to the endurance of one family for moving a home or a business in one lifetime. Apparently you haven't reached that tipping point yet and still have the energy and stamina for this latest move, which is good news for hobbyists in that region and for the train hobby in general.

A great layout in the store will be a magnet for train hobbyists, especially Junior Engineers. Congratulations to the Muffin Team for showing leadership and foresight in allocating space at your store for a train club! With best wishes for success,

Mike

Best wishes on the move and getting everything set up. But if I read your post right, you actually moved further west. Now I know a lot of people won't think a block and a half is very far, but I just think its in the wrong direction and about 600 miles too short.

Best of luck in the new place, and have a happy & healthy New Year.

Gerry

But ... but ... I finally got the pictures I took uploaded to Google Maps! And the requisite attaboys from Google!

Unrelated ...

I left Mr. Muffin's Trains headed back to the Chicago area, relying on the GPS. Came across a large gas station out in the cornfields with a decent price on gas, maybe $1.99. Better stop, not going to get that in Chicago. Filled her up. Then I am taking more country roads to get back to I65 and there's a station on the way that was $1.75/gallon.

I have an app on my Android phone that finds cheap gas, wish there was an app that would tell you cheap gas along the way. Could have saved me maybe 15 *0.25 or $3.75.

I don't know Steve, this is the third location in less than a year. Almost sounds like your trying to stay one step ahead of the Feds. LOL If memory serves me correctly I saw your picture over at the Post Office a couple of weeks ago.

Anyways, congrats on the expansion and I'm looking forward to doing more business with you in 2017.
