Found this on YouTube: The Franklin Automation Index! The FAI was the predecessor to DCS and TMCC.

I loved that episode. I used to program data acquisition and control systems and thought about that episode all the time. Never thought about building one to control trains, though -- too much like work.
Very cool and inspirational video. I have both DCS and Legacy systems and pretty much just use them for remote control. Might have to break out the instruction manuals to read up on recording automated actions!
It's funny that I recognize the main actors in the video even though I can't name most of them. Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrs Jonny!
(one I can)
Love it a card and no remote!!!
I was intrigued and wanted to know, "Who done it." I could not find the whole episode on YT, but I did find the full episode here. About 48 minutes.

When I ran O-31 curves, I never could go that fast without jumping the track.

I never thought of this before, but Ed McMahon kinda reminds me of Leslie Nielsen...

Interesting timing of this topic. At yesterday’s TCA meet we watched a lot of this movie, mostly the train related aspects. One of our members, Dave Otth built the layout for the movie and gave us a lot of the background info. He said the wiring was done by the studio electricians.
