Got up this morning and took a few shots....as I have posted over the years here on the forum, sunlight coming into the train room makes for some interesting contrasts in light and shadow.....double click on each photo to get the full effect....( just updated and added more pictures, scroll down to the 1-28 post )

Very nice!

My layout is in my basement as I'm sure many members layout's are. I get a little early morning sun through one window.

What's a basement?

One of the downsides of living in the south ... the high water table. My crawlspace is literally maybe 20 inches high in many spots. Everyone that has to work under my house (what, me get under there? It's too tight!) complains about it (and probably then jacks up the prices). I haven't seen a full, finished basement since my parents moved us out of Queens in 1984.

HI Alan: Cool topic  •  I have to make sun with two studio lights.

This photo shows me working on a YT video, for a green screen segment. I also use these soft boxes for filming the layout.

(2) - 24 inch soft boxes with colored corrected lights to 5500 Kelvin

Camera: Canon T6i  •  Lens 18 to 55 mm  •  With a skylight filter

(2) - LED Studio Lights  •  3 x 5 inches • Color corrected • removable soft box  (not shown in photo)

1 Green Screen 0 24 1 82

Hope this helps: Gary

Alan, thanks for sharing your awesome layout with us again.  I don't know when you can find the time to do everything, but it is great.  Your layout is the epitome of large, big city modeling with your scratch-built skyscrapers.

Your natural light pictures make me think that maybe I should let the light in my windows instead of covering it up, at least for picture taking purposes.  I just realized our layouts are at opposite ends of the spectrum in many ways.  I model Midwestern countrysides with small towns and you do big city Chicago with all it's grandeur.

Good to see you able to spend a little time on the forum again and share pictures of your fabulous layout.
