May 3, will be a day full of fun and excitement.   Steve and his team plan to conduct demonstrations on the new Lionel/LCCA FasTrack Modular railroad system during this event.   We are hoping that families will want to get involved; build their own Lionel/LCCA FasTrack Modular section(s)  and bring them to our annual convention in Indy.   We plan to bring new modular sections to our convention in an effort to support the LCCA’s Upcoming Autism Awareness day to be held July 24, 2014  at the Marriott East Hotel.  The LCCA is planning to have a Lionel/LCCA FasTrack Modular Railroad layout set up and running at the hotel this July.  This will be a golden opportunity for local Indianapolis train enthusiasts along with Autistic children and their families to participate in our convention and then have a local modular layout that can be used year round at future local events and functions.    Steve and his team plan to conduct demonstrations of the new Lionel/LCCA FasTrack Modular Railroad System on May 3.    If you have an interest in building a modular section, please contact Steve Nelson at mrmuffinstrains@att.net or by phone at 317.569.1999  Model railroading is a very educational, interactive, hands-on and creative hobby that can be shared and enjoyed by your entire family.  Come and learn more about this wonderful and worthwhile project.

We hope this project will lead to the construction of a new Lionel/LCCA FasTrack Modular layout that can be used by local train enthusiasts in the Indianapolis and surrounding areas on a year round basis.  Come to the event and learn more about this new, light weight, portable and flexible new modular railroad layout standard.  Most importantly, come and just have fun!   We know you will feel and experience the magic of Lionel trains. We hope to see you at Mr. Muffins Train store on Saturday May 3.   A food cart will be available for cash food purchases.

About the LCCA

The Lionel Collectors Club of America (LCCA) is a national, not-for profit , volunteer organization which was formed by Jim Gates of Perry IA along with 83 other charter members back in 1970.  The club has grown over the years and has approximately 7500 members from all around the world, but predominantly in the US.  The purpose of the club is to "promote and foster interest, research, education and enjoyment of Lionel trains from 1900 to the present in particular and by association, all toy trains in general.  The motto of our club is “ A Lifetime of Happiness Collecting Lionel Trains”.

Current LCCA President Dennis DeVito has established a club goal of reaching out and having direct contact with at least 2300 LCCA members and family members this year with the Special Events Program.  President DeVito and the entire LCCA Board of Directors are committing the resources to this family oriented Special Events Program in an effort to expand the club by recruiting new members, retaining current members and promoting the hobby.  We are constantly reaching out and trying to attract new and younger people who may have never experienced the magic of Lionel trains.  We have several LCCA Special Events scheduled in various cities all around the country.  For more information go to the "Special Events" tab on our website www.lionelcollectors.org

Autism Society of Indiana’s Mission:  To improve the lives of all people affected by autism in Indiana.  To us, “people affected” means:  individuals with autism, their families, teachers, physicians, therapists, bus drivers, restaurant owners…etc!  We do this by providing individualized information and support referrals to individuals who are affected by autism TODAY.  We understand that autism is a lifelong disability.  ASI is here to provide support and advocacy, and to increase awareness and acceptance throughout our state.  We are the first point of contact for people around Indiana when they need support, input, or a shoulder to cry on.  Our staff all have close family members who are on the autism spectrum, which gives us that real-life experience that you can’t learn from a book.
