It would be great if the new park could fund bringing some of the Maine two-foot gauge equipment back.
"Back"? To where? I thought some of it went back to Maine and they had a museum
there now, and have equipment running. When I went looking for any evidence of two foot RR's in Maine in the 1970's, I found little in an admittedly hurried drive through. Certainly I'd hope for at least something like Durango and Silverton, or Toltec
re-creations on some two foot roadbed.
This park should be good for the toy / model train hobby. Joe
I figured it would be about time before a Thomas themed place would hit the USA. This I greatly look forward to.
Cool beans! An hour drive from me and I have 2 boys who are the perfect age for it.
Edaville was a Maine two-foot gauge mecca for many years before it closed.
I would say I wish they'd had this when I was a kid, but growing up in Florida, there would have been NO WAY my folks would have driven that far for something like this. We didn't have a lot of money as I was growing up. Sadder still, my wife and I never could have any kids, so I never got to share trains with any kids as they grew up...
All that said, I am happy to see a new generation of train fans will surely come out of being there as kids...
looks like it is going to be a fun family place. I wish them luck!
Wonderful!
Peter
