"HONGZ" stands for HO scale, N scale, G scale, and Z scale.

Post your non-O scale stuff here!

I still follow HO, and still own a good amount of HO models.

If you are going to get into HO, I would recommend going direct to DCC control. Most everything today is DCC ready, the cost for decoders is cheap. DCC, like TMCC or DCS is very easy to operate.

As for products: Atlas, Athearn, Walthers, Accurail, Branchline, Con-Cor,  Broadway Ltd, Bachmann just to name a few. Best bet would be to pick up some Model Railroader mags and read reviews.

There is a lot more stuff being made for H.O. scale trains, mainly the rolling stock and the buildings. However the size of the track space is almost the same as O scale or 031 curves, H.O. curves from Atlas or Bachmann start at 30 inches and go up. There is flex track but it has some draw backs.

O gauge has 027 curves to start with, approximately 27 inches for a circle. H.O. needs at least 30 inches for a circle.

Command control is better in H.O. because you only have one system to deal with; DCC. DCC is the standard for H.O. command control, regardless of who makes the unit.

O scale or O gauge has 2 main command control systems for running the engines. Then there is; K-Line, Williams, and Williams by Bachmann operating cars that take a special remote control and don't work with any other remote or control system. You will have to upgrade or install your own command control inside the K-Line and Williams operating cars to make them work with TMCC or DCS command control.

Kato also makes some excellent HO locos and cars, but their HO track system is not anywhere near as extensive as their N-scale line of 'UniTrack'.

Yup .... everything Kato makes is excellent. And, everything is made in Japan.

Add a made-in-NY DCC system from NCE, and some more quality rolling stock from Kadee, and you completely avoid China.
