So, I was just re-reading a copy of O Scale Railroading from 1989, and I said to myself "Self, that was not so long ago.”
Then I realized that I was on my 30’s then (with hair!), that MTH and Menard's trains did not yet exist, that K-line was just starting out, in 1989.
No digital or Bluetooth controls were mentioned anywhere.
None of the advertisers had email, much less websites.
It dawned on me that 1989 was half of my life ago, 5 years before my joining TCA or going to my first York. Warrenville was only 5 or 6 years old and only about 8 x 10 feet in size, with O27 curves, located in a spare basement bedroom. (see: About | WarrenVille RailRoad )
My, how time flies!!
That said, it was a great Mag then and still is, AND, now we have Digital issues and the Forum.
I don't know what the point of this post is, but I thought I'd share my thoughts anyway, just for the heck of it.

You are correct, time flies by.  Started my layout, in 1976 in Jamaica, for my two young kids (2y and newborn) and still working on it some, after 48 years.  My oldest grand daughter was married this last week end, 4-20-2024, so maybe some great grand kids may get to operate the layout in a few short years!  We will have three other grands in college next year.

This is all very thought provoking and quite humbling.

I used to go to vintage are shows with Dad in the early 70's. He used to tell us all about cars of the 20's and 30's and how he loved rumble seats.

Now if I go to a show the cars are from the 70's and I reminisce about 405's, gas gusslers and great paint jobs.

Time flies! I am very grateful that I can still experience it.

I've got many I want to do projects. Probably more than I can finish in the time I got left. But finally going to get that train barn I want.

As for other signs.. Well I still remember being 17 and watching Angus from AC/DC running on the stage in 1982. I saw a recent video of him. I thought wow he got old. Then I realized so did I
