I am sad to report that I lost my dear Dad,Robert Marquardt,on Monday 11-10-2014.I am passing along this news because he was a big fan of the OGF and longtime subscriber to the magazine. He was a fantastic Dad and friend and also a lifelong fan of real and model trains. Please remember to spend time with the people you love in life,I am so happy I was able to with my Dad for so many years.

Dan

Sage advice about the ones we love. I lost my 21 year old about five years ago. My mother passed away recently and my Dad is long since gone. The memories are precious to me, the older I get. You father was a real individualist...and I share your sense of loss.

Someone once told me you never "recover" from the passing of those you love but you learn to live with this. I think that much is true.

Sorry to hear about your loss, your dad sounds like a one of a kind guy. My dad passed away a long time ago, and I am kind of sorry I didn't get back into trains before he passed away, my dad loved lionel trains and would have been happy to know so many people still loved them the way folks do on here (when I say Lionel, I mean three rail O; I don't think he knew about other companies getting into the market), and it would have been fun to bond with him over them, as we did with other things. I can tell you that the memories do keep people alive, my memories of my dad, the good ones, keep him alive in my heart
