Don't worry about it. 3rd Rail stuff is incredible and you'll enjoy it.
Good luck! I bought my first item from 3rd Rail too and am awaiting delivery, but it was an Erie caboose. I love the detail of the engines, but have always hesitated buying one because I don't know how well they would work operationally alongside Legacy engines.

I don't know why you would be concerned about any other model "working operationally alongside Legacy engines". The Sunset/3rd Rail models, in 3-Rail, come equipped with Electric Railroad TMCC Cruise Comander, thus pretty much any and all TMCC equipped models will work normally "alongside" any and all Legacy models. In fact, I tend to operate my Sunset/3rd Rail steam locomotive models with a Legacy Cab 2 controller!
