Im sure this topic raises its head from time to time but hope someone here clarifies this. When track is stated as 036, 042, 072 etc.. is the diameter measured from the center rail or the outside rail. Sure this will help a few others as well thanks in advance.

It depends.
O-31 is 14.14" center line radius, Lionel & K-Line O-72 is 35.88" center line radius. GarGraves plastic tie track is slightly different than the wood tie version.
Super O and FasTrack O-36 are both 18" center line radius. All of FasTrack is measured to the center rail center line, which causes a problem because their O-31 FasTrack is 15.5" center rail radius.
