Hi Don,

Yes, hard to see the bear in the upper middle of the original photo, so here's another perspective of the bear(s) across the track from the campers!

This seen comes from an experience a couple of friends and I encountered while camping at Yosemite. A black bear mommy and her cub walked by our campsite within 50 feet, but seemed unconcerned about our presence and just passed through! Whew!

Your story reminds me of an incident that happened to me about 40 years ago.  We were picnicking at Cook Forest State Park here in Northwestern Pennsylvania, when a mature black bear walked in.  We moseyed behind the car and watched as the bear emptied our cooler then walked away.  They like to hit garbage cans right here in Butler as well.

Well hello again TsTh fans, here are a few shots from my Leonardtown and Savannah.

First the WbB GE 70 Ton in SR livery is on the inner yard track behind the diner while the tank car and caboose thunder by on the outer freight main.  Both tracks are split by the main highway, full of traffic this fine morning.

At the Suburban station a Marx 400 steamer in charge of a small freight, charges out of the "mountains" and past the commuter platform.  Its hurrying because it is tightly scheduled between commuter runs to Savannah.

Hope your week is going well.  It has been seasonally very HOT here in central Texas with daytime highs over 100 degrees so mostly (at my age) staying inside in the aircon.

Best Wishes

Don

The following photos were taken by a co-worker of my wife Terry. Terry's co-worker is from India and was visiting the United States to get in-person training on a software that he and Terry then supported. His name is Karun. I will not even attempt to spell or pronounce the rest of his name. He is pictured below with Terry during his visit to our home for dinner and to see our train layout.

Here's what's trackside today ... girders.  The crane operator should be along soon.

Foreman Gus Hinkley stands trackside early this morning. 21BF6F84-DDA4-4AFF-94E2-CE167DC309B7

The BIG HOOK has been set out in the correct spot by the switch crew, however, with no operator the BH is useless.  Hope o'l Skippy, the crane operator, didn't tie on on last night!

Gus waits patiently for the crane to arrive as Rudy the foreman, standing in the background, scratches his chin impatiently as he mumbles to himself " That gol dang Skippy!  He knew we needed to unload these beams first thing this morning.  Where the @$&(% is he?! Trackside on this fine Thursday:  On the service track is C&O 0-8-0 number 75.  Loggie Dillard, standing on the locomotives front end,  just gave the headlight a real good cleaning.  Bo Beardsley has just topped off the sand domes.   Claude Hoag, standing on the ground closest to the front of the engine, has just lubed all around as foreman Eagle Eye Janks checks out everyone's work.  It's been said that o'l Eagle Eye can find a needle in a haystack and according to this crew, he will find imperfection in each man's task. 7C81A71A-D19C-44A7-9E38-CF606BC4A1FC

@bobfett- I can't remember off the top of my head but I will look through my train area to see if there is some residual packaging.  I can tell you that they were a ready made commercial product including the coloring of the figures.  I am just not that good painting such little things.  Sorry I can't be more precise, it I get more data I will post it.

Thanks, Don. I'm with you on not being good at painting little things. I'm looking for some already painted winter figures for the Christmas Tree Sales Area that my drive-in theater lot becomes in December. As it stands now, the folks choosing their trees are freezing their fingers off because they don't have gloves.

Bob

@bobfett- Sorry I took too long to find the source of the people you asked about so here it is.  I found two "groupings" one standing and one sitting down.  I am sure they have others and most likely a web site as well.

Thanks a lot, Don. I'll "Google" Model Power. Maybe my poor Christmas Tree hunters won't have to keep going back to their cars to warm up this year.

Regards,

Bob

Well TSThur fans here we are in a new month and our first Thursday!  So I guess I will start today but hoping other folks "come'on along".

Well we all know how HOT it is, so here is the unloading crew stocking up the Ice Cream truck so he can make his rounds of the neighborhoods.  All the kids (and lots of adults) are waiting and the young ones are enjoying the last days of summer before school begins.

Blue Bell Ice Cream Unloading

At the other end of town, things are pretty much normal at General Door and Sash, with the work force trying to stay productive in temperatures over 100 deg.  Gotta keep going though, the world needs those screen doors and windows so they can open windows at night without the mosquitos.

Well, It's Trackside Thursday everyone...and the folks at General Door and Sash are anxiously awaiting the lunch truck!  Run out, grab a sandwich and a drink, then quick back into the employee's lunch room where its air conditioned!  Glad that Pepsi truck guy is re-stocking the vending machine with ice cold Pepsi.

Food Truck

Happy Thursday everyone.
