In September we are attending the annual Seabee reunion at West Point. What, if any railroad attractions are in the area ?

General area. Work your way up the Hudson River from I 84 to Poughkeepsie, NY. Old New Haven RR bridge called the Walkway over the Hudson. You can walk the bridge, or ride a bike/bicycle. I've done both. It can be windy on the bridge. Safety meeting of the day.
Highland/Hyde Park side of the River.
Amtrak station Poughkeepsie.
Dan,
When you get close to September, give me a call. E-mail is in my profile. I live fairly close by and I can get you down to the CSX and Metro-North tracks legally, LOL.

Thanks Elliot. Will do.
There is a small train station located on the grounds of West Point. It is no longer active but is used for social gatherings. There used to be a freight train that ran through the Academy along the river but I don't know if it is still active.
Make sure you set some time aside to visit the museum which has a great collection of militarization.
Enjoy your visit.

That track is very active indeed!! That is the CSX River Line. It was formally the NYC West Shore line. It hosts between 24-30 trains per day. Many are unit oil trains with foreign power. Great line to catch trains.
