I have only one engine that is on the engine list. It works fine. I want to add more engines and the message is no engine on track or out of range. I need some help, the big book doesn't cover my problem.

Use the one engine and check signal strength.
Hmmm, it's still not working and you're back?

Why the duplicate posts?

Barry's book doesn't cover this???
Dup entries mistake, Checked signal strength, varies between 9 and 10 and then in a few yards we have 2 to 6. Used to be all 9 and 10. Will legacy locos on the track make any difference?
Some Legacy and TMCC locomotives, as well as certain lighted passenger cars, can really adversely affect the DCS signal.
I do have an 6 car passenger train that is lighted on the track.
try unplugging your Legacy booster again! Seems like that's your issue.
It never got plugged in after the last time.
Connect the TIU directly to only a short piece of track with only one engine on it. Power up and try to add your engine.
There you go, blaming the TMCC Buffer!
Signal strength low will inhibit adding new locomotives, even though you can run ones already loaded in the remote. I'd first remove the passenger cars and see if that helps.
FWIW, this is why my LED lighting modules all include a 22uh choke, frequently DC power supplies from track power affect the DCS signals.

I'm going by his other post GRJ. He said he unplugged the TMCC booster and his system worked again.
Sometimes some users only post little bits of info and then don't respond to helpful steps.
I have to wait until Sunday to try with the passenger cars unpowered. I will let you know then, Thanks to all.
Today I removed all the lighted pass cars and all the other Lionel and Atlas engines. I tried to load an MTH engine, and was successful. Thanks to all who lend a hand on the forum.
You may have to add 22uh chokes to some of those to be able to run them at the same time as MTH stuff. My products all have a 22uh choke for DCS compatibility, learned that lesson some time back.
How would I wire the chokes in?
The chokes are wired in series with the center roller feed to the electronics. They sized for whatever load they'll carry, for passenger car lighting, obviously a pretty light load. For locomotives, I like to have a choke rated at least 3A or larger.
