Research on the TrainPod project continues apace!   The Mark III is based on a dummy Alco truck from my junk box.  Here's what one of those looks like, dismantled:

The truck stud is removed, and the hole enlarged for the camera screw ("borrowed" from the MK I):

Some single sided foam tape for padding.

The finished product.   The foam above the wheels was trimmed off after I found it was keeping them from turning freely.

Initial operation tests, under the watchful eye of Shop Supervisor Norma Bates Kitteh.

First footage!   Pay no attention to the fat chap in the red shirt...

When I got back from converting the footage from .MOV to .MP4,  Norma was still sitting patiently on the darkened train table,  waiting for trains.   I had to oblige her, of course...

This is awesome, the way you put that video camera on the train truck and made the video from the engineer's point of view, and showed us all with the photos just how you did it. Thanks, Mitch.

Aw, shucks.

Your cat is like Godzilla on your layout.

Except she's not quite so destructive...  ;-)

Mitch- I think you may give Ron Popeill a run for his money.

Mitchco?  Hmmmm...

The video looks good. Not shaky at all.

(nods) I think the built in image stabilization helps.

Norma is a never ending bit of entertainment too.

Yes.  Yes, she is.
