I don't understand, where are all these passenger cars that came out in the 2016 catalogs? Where are the Amtrak streamlined passenger cars and their matching station sounds diner 6-82889!!!!!!!!!?   Where are the UP excursion cars? Where are the American Freedom train cars? Where are the CSX business train cars? Where are all the other passenger cars. If the items from the next catalogs are arriving in the coming months how are these overdue cars not anywhere to be seen yet?

Way to look at the glass half full!

Zach,

Back on 3/30/17,   in the other Lionel shipping schedule thread,  Dave Olsen of Lionel reported that they were having tooling issues with the new passenger cars due to the fact that all new tooling is being made.   He was hoping to have a further update around York time.

David, youre late

Matt, not really.  I just don't care anymore, so I don't look at the shipping schedule as often (if ever) these days... unless of course I see something like this thread.

In the old days, I would have said something about the passenger cars not being listed.  But there seems to be no lack of other folks who noticed that too.

It's all part of the new world order of overseas manufacturing, where the tail wags the dog.

The importers don't set the priorities.  Instead the factories tell the importers what they want to make and when they'll make it.    Or so it would seem.

It's all in good fun David, at least you're a good sport about it. I only noticed the lack of passenger cars cuz those and the SD45 are the only things I have on order. Now since I have three passenger trains onorder that's a big deal to me. I'm going to gave to get them shipped freight on a pallet since they'll all prolly come at once.

Yes, they will probably will come in all at once. It was this reason that I held off on just buying the U.P. excursion set. Just cannot afford that kind of bill.

What about all of the unreleased LionScale rolling stock?  It's made in USA, right?  So, Lionel should not be at the mercy of foreign manufacturers on these items.  I have never seen any of the LionScale items listed in the shipping schedule.

I contacted Lionel through Talk to Us back in February and was told that they are working on getting them out as they are completed.  I had inquired specifically about the boxcars and was told they hoped to get them out by late Spring.  If they are made in USA and expected to ship by late Spring, surely they should be listed on the shipping schedule.

Im thinking of dropping everything but the Hustle Muscle and the UP Excursion. I like the UP excursion and so do all the folks at shows so I need that to go with my UP locos but I d rather just sell the remaining stuff im trying to round out like my GG1's and all my freight locos and use the money to do other things

There are a number of items that still need to be added to the list but haven't yet because we don't yet have a firm ship date. These include the following:

  • 21" Passenger Cars - tooling issue
  • Scale Milk Cars - will have a date soon
  • Rotary Gondolas - will have a date soon
  • Disconnect Cars (logging and other accessory versions) - tooling issue
  • LionScale - the guys are working on a manufacturing schedule now.

We're not at the mercy of the factories. We have very good relationships with our factories and collaborate to make production schedules each year. Issues arise in making the products themselves (like the tooling problem with the passenger cars). But yes, we do set project priorities.

Everything listed above will be shipped this year. We just can't nail down a date yet until issues are resolved.

Also, the list is an "image" file as it was made in Excel due to the regular schedule software still having an issue. We did this to let people know dates. Just trying to help.

Yes Thank you Dave for your input.  After Mike left a vacuum with his departure from Lionel I was wondering who would fill the void to keep us train geeks informed and happy.

Agree - hoppers are now several months overdue already
