Update! csx heritage. pictures c&0 and b&O

I'm curious how these turned out?

find out saturday, i got this and the b and o. only bringing one home though. probably the chessie. i'll post pics, the up a6000's are nice i hope these are nice as well

Picked up my b&o todays. really like the engine so far looks great. this is my first legacy diesel. Really pleased with it except the front right number boar was missing out of the box not sure what to do about that theres just a hole there. Really on these heritage units to each is own i really enjoy them but i dont think everyone will. I really loved the b & o paint scheme in the catalog but in person its a little much i would have done with out the patriot additions but it still looks great. I did put a chessie version in layaway today. I was really on the fence on these to be honest i thought it was really awfull in the catalog but in person it looks really nice. with the somewhat metallic paint the colors really pop. The best looking though is hands down the western maryland the red and black looks great. I just dont know what to do about the this. I mean should i be happy with the missing number board, scuff, and fact striped dont even line up. Should i take it back to my retailer or call lionel. bottom pic has the damage

I'm not crazy about the way they did the vermilion stripes on the Chessie unit, just my opinion. The B&O is more tasteful, though I agree that they could have left the flags off.

Your B&O AC6000CW looks great. To me, I would have preferred a more traditional paint scheme. I’m very curious now on what the CSX/WM and Chessie AC6000CW's look like!

i agree without the flags this would be a must own. I still really enjoy it it looks nice. was getting the chessie regardless casue i'm a c& o guy but it is much nicer in person

Jeremy, contact the shop you purchased it from. You shouldn't have to keep an item that is scuffed and missing a part. If they won't take it back, call/email Lionel. One way or another, you will be taken care of.

Really a nice locomotive. I like Swafford's drawing better, but this is still very nice. Omitting the lower patriotic striping and painting the lower section gray would have looked awesome.

Why in the world would you even consider keeping a defective brand new locomotive. Return it to the dealer for a replacement or refund.

went and got it replaced this morning. was no big deal. so far every legacy engine i've purchased was in some way impaired out of the box. new engine is just fine though

^Thanks for updating us. I'm glad they replaced it and I hope you enjoy running it. I have three legacy engines(two steam, one diesel) and one had to go back to Lionel for a sound issue. Lionel parts had it back to me in only 5 or 6 days. They had to replace the RailSounds board and a cherry switch. It's been perfect since.

I was able to see the B&O and WM version today at the Wheeling / Oglebay Show, and they look great. I really like the gloss finish on the paint. Patrick only had one Chessie version, and he left it at the store? I have not made any purchases in a few years, but this one is tempting me.

I will have to do some looking around and see what kind of prices are
out there on these also...

I like the engine and will use it and thank Lionel for stepping up and doing it, however for now I will use it till I retire and have the time to do it up right and copy Frank's drawings to the "T"

This is one heritage unit I would definitely buy if it was available. Maybe one in the ACL black scheme as well.

I was thinking of covering up the fuel tank also, not sure how, maybe a strip of brass painted black or some black auto pin striping. I do not want to paint over it for a few reasons. I will start with the pin striping first and see what that looks like. On a real engine I doubt they would put a flag or anything for that matter on a fuel tank, it would look like h**l in no time.

to me the chessie colors was always one of the most striking paint shemes there was. mix that with that pearl esq paint lionel is using on these heritage units and its perrty great. took it out in the sun and man is it nice looking. still not a big fan of the stripes. but is better than i thought

is it possible to put the fuel tank from another a6000 on the engine such as the family lines or wm as there tanks are all black

Yes, I think you could exchange fuel tanks. Check with Lionel on when the WM fuel tank is available and what the cost is.

To me, I think the paint job and the American flag stand out better on the engine without the flag deco on the fuel tank.
