I was in my local US Post Office today and saw this poster on the wall for the sale of new stamps.
The top left hand stamp is the new Golden Spike stamp and below it is a picture of a steam engine.
BUT Not a steam engine from the North American continent. Looks like from the UK.
Your government at work.
P.S. the USS Missouri Battleship stamp looks like the ship and not a foreign ship.

I thought I was the only one who remembers the wanted posters in the post offices! 
I always looked forward to visiting my aunt in Wilmerding, Pa. in the 1960's-70's as we would visit the post office there to check out the posters, when everything else was rather slow.

Train on poster looks like the HOGWARTS EXPRESS.

It would have been better if it were Thomas, more people would recognize it; and maybe buy more of the stamps for their collections. I might get a couple of the battleship ones.
Well the engine appears to be a 4-6-0, perhaps in post nationalization "British Railways" livery. Might be a former LMS "Black Five"??
This happens a lot on programs like documentaries on PBS or the Science channel. I suspect someone involved in the production just googles "steam train stock image (or "stock footage")" and doesn't realize what they're coming up with is British or European, when the subject of the documentary is American.
Be thankful for small miracles...at least they manage to deliver the mail...(sometimes)......

Seriously, as bad as the press reports are sometimes and as you know, Joe, our area had some well publicized mail thefts, I prefer their tracking (if done properly!) than the other carriers. Not meaning to hijack the topic.

It happens so often that I tend to disbelieve anything they say without independent confirmation. If they can't get something that simple right, why would I suspect they got anything else right?

Remember the furor caused a while back by ad for US vets and they used a stock photo of German WW2 soldiers instead?
