I have three concentric loops of track, electrically and mechanically isolated. I have two TIU's. One TIU powers two loops and uses aux. power. The other unit powers the third loop with track power. Only one hand held unit. All are 3.1 levels.

DCS acts funny when all tracks are powered. Hand held unit reacts very slowly, if at all. Turn off third loop and everything is normal. what is happening with the TIU's? Are they interacting? How can I solve the problem?

Hope this helps.... How do you know what number your tiu is?... When you  power up a tiu there's a red LED on top that blinks. The number of blinks is the actual tiu number.(up to five)

How many times does each of your  tiu blink? unfortunately the software will allow you to add tiu even though they may not exist. Far enough for now... come on back.

George,

They are both set at "1". How do I set one to "2"?

As follows:

  • Turn off power to the original TIU #1
  • Turn on power to the new TIU #1 and to the DCS Remote
  • Press Menu/System/TIU Setup/Edit TIU
  • Highlight TIU #1 and press the thumbwheel
  • Highlight TIU #2 in the list
  • Press the thumbwheel
  • The new TIU will be changed to TIU #2
  • Press ENG
  • Power on the original TIU #1
  • Press Menu/System/TIU Setup/Add TIU
  • Highlight TIU #1 and press the thumbwheel.

That should do it. The old TIU will be #1 and the new TIU will be #2.

This and a whole lot more is all in "The DCS O Gauge Companion 2nd Edition", now available for purchase as an eBook or a printed book from MTH's web store site! Click on the link below to go to MTH's web page for the book!
