Version II GCT-Harry Heike Needs Your Help

Harry received, thanks to a Forum member, a Version II GCT today. He has the following questions for those who might be interested in a Base Unit.

 

1. Would you prefer a Base Unit with the store window effect as is prototypical with the 1 to 1?

2. Would you prefer a Base Unit that serves as a platform for tracks to run underneath this terminal?

3. Or would you prefer a combination with a level of store windows and under that, a platform to run trains underneath it?

 

I came up with another idea since the back of the station is flat and designed to go against a wall, how about an attachable façade that would give the back of the station the ability to be a stand alone unit thereby allowing you to not have it as just a wall unit. Personally, I think this would be very cool and really add to this terminal.

 

Please post what you prefer. This is time sensitive, so please add your comments ASAP.

I'm not in the market for any version but very interested to see what solutions Harry arrives at. The issue that I have with several of the "steal-of-a deal" deals is the fact they are only three sided. Certainly, not all wish to display these pricey buildings against a wall.

Thanks Forrest, I will let him know your preference. I happen to agree with you as well and have indicated this to Harry.

 

Towdog, base upon the responses here, he will have a prototype very soon. Mnay of the components required, he already has the molds. This will not be made out of press wood or similar materials.

I haven't answered because I am not in the market for this station, but option #3 would seem to be great for many layouts.  By utilizing the space above your passenger sidings, you make more efficient use of your valuable layout space.  Most large city passenger stations had the tracks running under them, at least in Chicago and New York where this one is located.  Just my two cents worth.

My only worry about Option 3 is because of the size of the Terminal itself, it could look top heavy. For a larger Terminal, it could look very impressive.

 

I am keeping Harry updated with your comments. Thanks to all of you for your responses.

 

And Alan is correct, when Harry gives us the price, just watch what happens to the interest level for both versions.
