I recently posted a layout update video on Youtube:

(Sorry for just a link ... couldn't get the embed to work)

I've finished one side of my Southport station using parts I had laser cut by Monster Modelworks.

Build notes can be found on my blog: http://ctalayout.blogspot.com/

But alas, unfortunately I won't be able to attend the Mass Transit Modellers meet in Rutgers this year. It just didn't work out.

Thanks

CTA,

I am amazed at the realism in your work!  I was born and raised in Chicago, living in the city for 23 years and in the near NW burbs for another 35 years before retiring to the mountains in CO.  I rode the L/subway my entire life.  I commuted to HS and college on the Ravenswood and the Logan Square line (Brown line and Blue line now)  I get back to Chicago once a year ans use the "L" to get from ORD or MDW and to get around the city.

I lived amidst buildings just like your models! I looked out my bedroom window to a three flat just like your model.  My planned layout will have an elevated line.  There will be a double track "loop" around the city center with legs extending out to  small 2-3 track terminals.  A couple of wyes and a few crossovers will let me vary routes.

I noticed in video you are running 2 car concsists.  I find that very realistic and it really makes sense.  Modeling and fitting in platforms for a 4-8 car consist would not only be a much bigger task, it would throw the scale and balance out of proportion.  I was planning on doing the same.  Still deciding on the superstructure/girder plan....yours is the "gold standard" as far as I am concerned!

Again, GREAT WORK!
